Evans Lumber Company is proud to announce that we now carry Natural Select Wood by Cox Industries. The same high quality #1 Yellow Pine Lumber now treated with Copper Boron Azole, ( CBA ), dried after treatment.
In the past we have carried, and will continue to carry for the immediate future, CCA treated wood. However, the manufacturers and the EPA have reached an agreement to discontinue the use of CCA treated lumber by December 31,2003. CCA treated lumber has always been safe for use but has attracted a lot of attention lately in certain areas of the country. NO HEALTH RISKS HAVE EVER BEEN LINKED TO CCA TREATMENT! but in any event it will not be allowed for residential use after December 2003, so we are now offering CBA treated lumber for those who wish to use a treated lumber product and have concerns about it's use.
You need not be concerned it you have a deck or play set made fro CCA-treated wood. Nor should you have any hesitation about purchasing CCA-preserved wood currently in stock at your local retailer. In fact, EPA's announcement on February 12, 2002 stated plainly, "EPA has not concluded that CCA-treated wood poses unreasonable risks to the public for existing CCA-treataed wood being used around or near their homes or from wood that remains available in stores. EPA does not believe there is any reason to remove or replace CCA-treated structures, including decks or playground equipment."
For anyone with concerns about CCA, it is important to remember that people may be exposed to 30-times more arsenic from food and water and other natural sources than they get from contact with CCA-preserved wood. |
