Evans Lumber Company is has been located in the same spot since its founding in 1929. As seen from this areial photograph, Evans covers most of a city block in downtown South Charleston, West Virginia. Our large sales area and display area are located to the right with warehousing and service areas located directly behind them. Our shop area is also located in the middle of the complex of buildings. To the far left is one of our metal warehouses the covers 24,000 square feet. All of our materials are covered for the protection of our merchandise, including framing lumbers and treated lumber. In the center of the photograph is the smoke stack where we once operated a steam powered kiln and heating system for the plant area. The kiln areas have since been converted to warehousing activities, but the stack still remains as a local landmark.
The photograph below is the one of the service areas in our Do-it-Best hardware department. This picture was taken after our extensive remodeling in 1996. A close inspection of the ariel photograph will show that the photo was taken previous to our remodeling in 1998. |
