After two weeks of painting the mural was finished and the South Charleston Visitors and Convention Bureau held a dedication ceremony on D Street in front of the mural. The mayor, several councilmen and Bob Anderson the director of of SCVCB did the honors.
The children at the bottom of the mural was the idea of Austel Lindermann, the painter. Don Evans of Evans Lumber followed up by having the pictures made of his grandchildren as the models for the painting. Each child had the opportunity to hold a paint brush and assist in the painting of themselves. |
